iBrewMaster 2 App Reviews

Wish I bought beer smith

Regardless of updates, this app crashes all the time. There are several glitches that you have to live with. Example; if you email a recipe to yourself, the ABV and IBU is switched around. While building your own recipes, the app kicks you out at random and you start making changes to another recipe without realizing. You cant back up any data to your computer, if you take the app off your device you will lose everything. Customer service is nonexistent. If you have questions or concerns, your on your own. I give 2 stars instead of 1 only because the app comes with a large library of northern brewer recipes.

Too many crashes

Not worth 13$, I had used iBrewMaster 1 on my first gen IPad, and while the layout was not great, it worked fine and was very happy with the functionality and reliability of the product. Its been over a year since Ive used iBrewMaster, I just got a new iPad Air and was excited about Version 2, however, I am extremely disappointed the layout is still hard to use, and no wthe App is extremely buggy and almost not even usuable, while brewing yesterday, the app froze 5 times, the timers were useless because they would have to be reset after freezing.

Dont get this app! Not supported any more!

Ive used this app for several years and had more than 25 batches saved here. Recently, I lost all my batch data and the restore from backup function doesnt work! Lost all my important batch data! Apparently they arent supporting the app any more so I dont have anyway of getting my data back. Dont waste your money!

Great app horrible support

I have had a few issues with iCloud sync. Contacted support received one email and then no response. Upgraded to iOS 9 now the app does not work at all. Contacted support a few times. No response at all in weeks since first email sent.

Freezes a lot!

I try to view a recipe and modify additions or anything for that matter it locks up. Definitely not worth 10 bucks!

Crashes and deletes!

I have been using this to log recipes for a while now. I have to say over time it has performed worse and worse. No updates, repeated crashing. I finally made the jump to Beersmith and have no regrets. Even so, I still try to log my brews in IBMS. It has a wretched time trying to save any changes you make. This time when I opened it, it had deleted the last six weeks of brew records. This is the last straw. I give it two stars, just for the memories. There is other software, better designed and supported than this. I dont know why I waited to quit, but deleting my info pushed me over the edge.

Too many bugs

Most are UI related...have force quit the app way too much to get the UI to behave properly...makes it mostly unusable

Not very amused

So I thought, wow let me check this out. I want this app to help me. Its not very impressive or useful especially for 10$.

1 trick pony

The app itself usually works fine. Last year when I had an issue with the alarms the company emailed me with a possible fix. Since then I added the desk top version. Forget file sharing as they dont seem to be able to transfer back and forth despite having to use Dropbox to accomplish it. The print feature also doesnt work and after many emails Ive gotten no reply. Im not sure they are up and running or are simple selling what they had. If you have the app the timers are nice but consider you may never see your recipes anywhere else.

Not too good

When the app works it is great. I have formulated great recipes with the tools. That being said- the app has way too many bugs and crashes consistently. The device to device communication does not work well between iPhone and iPad. At the price point, it is well with it to explore other options.

Good

I can take existing recipes and make adjustments

Terrible software

I upgraded my phone and lost all of my recipes. When I tried to restore them from Dropbox it didnt work. I would not recommend this app. The customer service is terrible too.

iBrewmaster 2 upgrade stinks!

I purchased iBM over 2 years ago, and although the learning curve for me was steep, I found it to be reliable and fun to use. It did everything I wanted it to do. It gave ringing alarms during mashing and boils. It gave me alerts as to when fermentation steps were completed. All told, it was a nifty app. After notification that iBM 2 was available, I upgraded.....poor choice on my part. Notifications and alerts were now nonexistent. I asked for help from the developers...none was received other than blaming my problem on upgrades to newer versions of iOS. I deleted iBM2 and reinstalled iBM and now alerts and alarms are back. The coders who wrote iBM2 ignored the classic adage: If it aint broke, dont fix it! Do yourself a favor, if you must have an iOS app for brewing, try iBM original, eschew two!

never updated..... ever.

the app seems to work fine. mostly. definitely a little buggy, though. the app itself hasnt been updated in a long time. the last update I got was way before ios9 came out. just not happy with the way the app has been taken care of. at first, I loved it. but, then I had a question and attempted to email the app designers. never got a response. overall, the app is ok. the people responsible for fixing/debugging? awol? dead? gave up?

Trying to add new recipes

Every time I press the New button to add a recipe from the original brewmaster the app kills. Why?

Dead App! Do not waste your money!!!

l had IBM1 and loved it, frequent updates, and fixes as needed. Could not wait for IBM2, and updated as soon as the new version came out, at significant expense. New version had cool features, but buggy, as any new app will be. Instead of being refined overtime, the product is stagnant. Updates and fixes are few if any... Truly a pity, this app had potential to be the definitive app for brewing, it was easy to use, and intuitive, but because of neglect it is a waste of money. I say this because after using may other apps, this is the one I found easiest to use. Very disappointed at the result of this franchise. Do not waste your money!

Many Issues

This app has great potential. However, this long awaited "update" is loaded with bugs. If it doesnt get an internet connection right away, it hangs and stops everything on my phone. It shuts down unexpectedly when moving between iBrewMaster and another app. It also does not show real time results of my inventory without shutting down and re booting. Also, there is no documentation with the app. If you want to learn how to use it , you need to download the users manual from the website. Then, forget finding instructions on how to incorporate the new Water Profile module. According to their tech support, "theyre working on it". In many ways this app is much improved over the previous version. But overall, its not worth the money. Ive waited a year for this upgrade and this upgrade is nothing more than dangling a carrot. Im now using BrewSmith 2 as a proven and functional homebrewer aide.

Buyer beware

While the app is functional, there are many bugs and support is nonexistent. There are better apps for much less. I will no longer shop at Northern Brewer who sponsors the app.

Working good

It was buggy as heck but with the last update it started to work better. I also went from using it on the iPad to the iPhone 6 Plus, dont know if that made the difference. I was harsh on this product but it works good now. I hope they got everything straightened out and keep it that way. I can honestly recommend it for the iPhone 6 Plus. Havent used it on the iPad.

Vaporware

Guess what the latest update did for me? It erased every recipe and batch log for 2 years! I cant restore from iCloud or Dropbox because in some fancy new way it deleted those as well. Pretty awesome. And it is now going on the 2nd week since I emailed the (snarky) developer with no response. Beersmith here I come! After all I am starting over completely from scratch.
